Adolescent Counselling

*From age 12+

If you are thinking about counselling for an adolescent.....here are some details of how it works.

Adolescent therapy is conducted in a series of phases using modalities such as CBT, DBT and Humanistic theory.  The parents/guardians are engaged in the process and regular meetings between parents and therapist are scheduled to help both parties to best help the child.

The child’s confidentiality will be upheld during parental reviews and the focus will be on the child’s therapeutic process and their therapeutic needs going forward. Parents will be invited to openly discuss their observations of their child since commencing therapy. The therapist will also offer support and guidance on how best to support the child between sessions.  Regular discussions between therapist and parents provide valuable insights for the parent's relationship with their child and for the therapeutic relationship.
